Philosphy of a 2 year old?

I was playing with Lily and she started singing, "there is no right or wrong."

Took me a minute to realize she was singing a song about art (there is no right or wrong way to draw a picture, etc.) that she had heard on Mickey Mouse earlier in the day.

Attitude

I am sick of Aaron's bad attitude.

Anything he can't get right the very first time seems to put him in tears and "I HATE *fill in the blank*"

Example. Today he had a friend over and I found some paper airplane instructions and printed them out. They were a little harder to follow than I thought. Aaron is nearly reduced to tears and of course announces how much he hates this stupid paper airplane.

His friend, nary a tear in site, said, "I don't hate it, it's just hard." Then pleasantly kept trying.

Any suggestions on how to get Aaron to adopt a similar attitude?

Ugh

Between allergies, mosquitos, and the heat (at least in the afternoon), it's hard to even want to go outside.

Sonoma

After Muir we headed over to Sonoma to visit some wineries. We did a few tastings (Ravenswood was our favorite), had lunch at the cheese factory (yum!) and did a tour of the Glorier Ferrer winery, which makes sparkling wine (otherwise known as Champagne).

As you can see, the country there is beautiful. The change in weather is remarkable. An hour north and it was 90 degrees, compared with 70 in the city. It was a great day and nice to get out of the city.

Muir Woods

We rented a car on Monday and headed north to Muir Woods, which is amazing. I'm glad we got there relatively early (9:30) because by the time we left a couple hours later it was getting crazy busy and ver un-nature like. Here's some of my fav photos.

Angel Island

Last Friday in SF I didn't get out my camera. We walked around China Town with dinner at the amazing House of Nanking.

The next day (after a wrong train and lots of walking) when we hit Golden Gate Park, I pulled it out only to find the battery had died, even though I had just charged it. So no pictures the first 2 days. There were some really cool Orchids at the Conservatory of Flowers, but my cell phone camera just didn't do them justice. We finished the day with a walk down Haight Street (I was disappointed that most of the shops had closed at 7!) and dinner at the wonderful Cha Cha Cha's. I want that sauce for all of my potatoes.

Angel Island

Sunday we went to Angel Island, which is a state park across the bay from Alcatraz. (Thanks MK for the tip). The island is home to Camp Reynolds, which was a base during the Civil War. There also is an immigration station, similar to Ellis Island, but on a smaller scale.

As we were slow getting there, we caught the last ferry and only had an hour and a half on the island til we had to catch the last ferry back. We rented a couple of bikes and rode the (mostly paved) trail part way around the island.

Dinner was in North Beach at the Stinking Rose. Oh garlic, how I love thee.

And it's back to Reality.

I really miss the maid service.

We had a great time in SF. I'll post some pictures later. Right now I'm being mauled by Lil.

Happy Anniversary!

In 1998, the nation was consumed with the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal. In 2008 the nation is consumed the the Clinton-Obama race for the presidential nomination.

I can't believe I've been married for TEN years. That makes me sound old. Today the weather is very similar to when we got married--Threatening rain clouds with periodic showers.

10 years ago, we went on a 4 day cruise down the West coast. This year, thanks to my parents and good friends Teri and Grant, we are off to San Francisco this weekend to celebrate. Thank you so much for watching the kids so we can go!

We've had a great 10 years! I love you Michael!
