After a couple weeks on the counter, I finally tossed the masterpieces that were our gingerbread houses. Here are the pictures for posterity.

Look guys, posting it the same day!
Lori, Kirsti, and I were pretty much inseparable during high school. We had so much fun going to the dances, planning parties, etc.
It's been awhile since we all got together, but luckily Lori penciled us in while she is here visiting family. The kids got along great, and it was fun to meet the newest member of the Shawcroft family, Kyle. He is such a happy boy.
It's great to have friends you can pick up with again right away no matter how long it's been since you've seen them. Love you guys!

Pumpkin Patch
This past weekend was beautiful weather. Friday afternoon (after the dishwasher repairman finally finished up--Hooray for automatic dishwashers!!) we met up with Teri and the kids to choose some pumpkins. After getting all the pumpkins a wheelbarrow could hold (sadly, I was too busy making sure it didn't tip over to get a picture of the boys trying to push it), we stayed and let the kids climb all over the tractors and go through the "maze" (really, there was only one path--it was free, what did I expect?). I was amazed how much the kids loved climbing on the tractors. But I didn't mind. It was nice to be warm in the sun, and just chat away while the kids played.

Dropping the boys at camp
After an hour and a half in the car, the kids were ready to get out and see what this Camp Roger thing was all about. We got a brief tour of the grounds, then had some yummy hamburgers. Aaron and Carter were so excited and decided to bunk across from each other on the top bunks in their cabin. Maybe they'll flash secret codes with their flash lights. :)
See you Friday night Aaron! Have a great time!

More Boise
We toured several wineries near Boise. Most picturesque were St. Chapelle's and Hells Canyon. These are from St. Chapel.
Mike took te one of the windy road.
The guys were really patient while Teri and I took pictures.

We were in Boise a couple of weekends ago with Teri and Grant. Little known fact: There is a large Basque population in Boise. Teri and I went exploring with our cameras and found this on the sidewalk. I found the lyrics amusing, so here I post them for your own amusement.
And then below, just another building.

Us 2, neighbors 0
When I mentioned crotchety neighbors, you probably thought of an old guy shaking his cane or a woman with several cats. Neither was the case. The 2 guys that I did catch a glimpse of seemed to be younger--40 or under.
I can understand being annoyed at living near a vacation rental (especially one that is a mere 10 feet away from your own home). But these guys were overboard. It was a holiday, and a weekend. And it is not our fault that the house had no AC so we had to open all the windows to survive.
To whoever called the cops about our parking: It was a narrow road, so I understand your concern. But really, did you have to involve the cops? A simple word from a friendly neighbor would have been much more effective. Besides, the cops said our cars were fine.
To whoever called the cops about our "noisy" party at 8:30 pm: As I said before,
the only reason all of our windows were open is so we could survive the heat, so thanks a lot for making us feel obligated to close them. Our music wasn't loud. We were just talking. Was it the laughter that drove you crazy? Perhaps you were jealous that you don't have such cool friends. Anyway, the cops, after hearing our soft music playing in the background, told us we were just fine as long as we weren't loud after 10. It seemed as though they might have been called by you one too many times to take it seriosly.
It was just so funny because we never did anything wrong. We should have talked to those cops about filing some harrassment charges. ;)
So I got sick saturday morning and had to miss the fun alpine slide/coaster/zip line. I was feeling a bit better so went up to a free concert at the Canyons. Mike and I took a little too long at the car, and everyone else caught the tram up, while they closed it right before we got one because of lightning. So we walked up to the concert, sat down for 10 minutes, had a bit to eat, then it started raining on us. Yeah. We came back to the house, hung out for a bit, then headed home.
Big thanks to all those who helped keep track of the kids so we could go!

Weekend in Park City
Had a great weekend in Park City with my amazing friends.
However, I provided unnecessary drama by leaving my purse at the restaurant we ate at the first night. At first I wasn't that worried. I thought I may have just set it down in some strange place. But after calling my phone multiple times and listening around the house, we were pretty certain it wasn't in the house.
Christy took charge and called the restaurant. I still wasn't THAT worried. It made sense that the accountant who came in the morning might not know where the lost and found was. But once we walked down there and they were opening for lunch and they still hadn't found it, I started to freak out. Michael even went so far as to give a couple of garbage cans the once over. All this time we were calling my phone to try to hear it. The thing is, I was more bummed about all the trouble it would be to cancel accounts and get a new drivers license than I was about the cash and cards themselves.
Finally Mike and I walked back up to the house to triple check the house and check credit cards and to decide if we needed to start cancelling things. We checked all the card sites and there were no charges. We decided to wait a few more hours until the person who closed up the restaurant last night came into work today. We were getting ready to find everyone again when my number called Mike's phone. I answered it and it took me a second to recognize Grant on the line "If you ever want to see your phone again, bring one thousand dollars..." (Not funny!! Okay, a little funny.)
So the restaurant had it the whole time. According to them it was "hidden" in the managers office. We must have called the phone 50 times and they had never heard it ringing? Sheesh.
At least, as Christy said, it was a happy ending. Nothing was missing and we had it back.
Coming soon: stories about our crotchety neighbors.

Dry Creek Park
Last weekend we went to a park in Lehi called Dry Creek Park. It's a very wild and overgrown park with a creek running through the middle of it and a frisbee golf course. We had a nice picnic with some old friends we hadn't seen in years. It was a hot day, but nicely shaded. The kids loved playing by the creek. It was running pretty high and swift from spring run off, so we had to keep a pretty close eye on them--especially because there were some bridges that crossed it that didn't have guard rails. We were pretty hot after walking around for awhile, but we all had a good time.

Music Monday
So last weekend Mike and I were talking with Grant and Teri about albums you can't live without. Some on my list are Everything to Everyone by Barenaked Ladies, So-lo--Danny Elfman, Sgt Peppers--the Beatles, and Days of Future Past--Moody Blues.
What are your favorites?
